Motor and transmission mounts

Been posting about chatter and shudder problems when taking off and down shifting.
Replaced the pressure plate, clutch disk, throw out bearing, pilot bearing and the flywheel was surfaced. I didn't do the work. Had someone else do it. Doing the same thing now as it was doing.
The guy that did the work said the motor mounts were good. I want to put new motor mounts and transmission mounts in that way I will know for sure. I can't find anything in the old manual about motor mounts. Can someone clue me in. I want to do it myself.
I am almost convinced it isn't the clutch see how it is doing the same thing with new parts. The linkage is worn but it adjust to 1 1/4" free play. Think I will just change the mounts. Any information appreciated.

The rear mount is pretty simple and replacement should be straight forward if you have a good jack. All I can tell you about the front mounts is to put the bolts in as loosely as possible for alignment purposes. Tighten 'em up when everything is together.

I believe it was a Shoebox he is working on…..you should be able to reach them from underneath the front of the car….use jack stands, chock the wheels…..remove two bolts that go into the water pumps and two that go up thru the front cross member…..use a block of wood (2x6) on your floor jack, lift the motor carefully under the oil pan and remove the old mounts…only lift it as high as you have to…..set the mounts in just like the ones you take out and start the bolts…..lower the motor till it rests on the mounts and tighten the bolts……after you drive it some, recheck the bolts…
Be aware that replacement clutch parts are of questionable quality these days……..Mark

I’ve bought items from C&G.

I replaced the DS motor mount along with the leaky water pump in July. Here's a photo of the mount. The exhaust crossover pipe and gravel shield were also off at the time. Flatford 8 gave good instructions.

My '47 front mounts are different but I did find that the existing had compressed excessively with age. Worth noting I think .... new mounts often take a little time to compress and settle-in so good idea to check them after a bit of mileage. My replacements cause a little shuttering when shifting but that went away after some driving.
