Hi,
Maybe the description of mold may also be described as mildew.
Anyway, usually mold & mildew is a living fungus which usually needs three (3) components to support its growth, i.e., (A) dirt/dust, (B) moisture or humidity, & (C) heat.
Usually mildew does not occur on: (1) very smooth clean surfaces absent of dust accumulation in crevicies, e.g., glass, marble, etc. ; (2) In regions with very dry climates & very low humidity; & (3) in areas with extreme cold temperatures & freezing conditions; hence, totally eliminate or change one of the three components, (A), (B) or (C), & one can usually prevent reoccurance of surface mildew.
Maybe first try a very mild solution of car wash liquid & water on a damp "natural" sponge to try to remove the existing mildew along with the existing accumulated (A) dirt/dust, followed by drying with paper towels.
Second, later just remove subsequent (A) dirt/dust accumulation with a damp "natural" sponge, followed by drying with paper towels.
Painters usually use 1 part Clorox to 3 parts water to totally remove mildew on existing painted wood surfaces or masonry surfaces; however, this solution may bleach the top fabric & any drippings may cause bleached spots on the upholstery below.
Hope this helps.
