Model B distributor on Model A engine?

I happened to put together a very nice B distributor complete, and found the B condensers available from Tam's Model A. But after discussing the expectations versus compatibility with others, decided to keep the stock set up for now. The main reason is you have more degrees manually on an A distributor than a B. I think you give up around 14 degree movement with a B distributor, which means to run it at full advance you give up full retarded, which would negate hand cranking. I have spoken with the Nu-Rex representative and apparently that centrifugal system gives about 30 degrees movement, so when I upgrade again that will be my choice.

Thanks to all who have chimed in. This thread has been very educational for me. I've learned a lot about the nuances of the 2 distributors and their pros & cons.

I have to agree, the model A is a simple car , fun to drive, fun to work on ( sometimes) , I’am a believer in K.I.S.S ! Makes it easier to work on .

AMEN! I second that! I have tried to make the A model "better" and it will always bite you for it. I am of the firm belief that the closer you get an A to how Henry made it, the better it will run and more reliable it will be. and I daily my 31 wide bed driving at 45-50 all day with only deviations from stock being a six-blade fan, t-stat, Coolant gauge, and partial flow oil filter. That is it, everything else is how Henry made it
