Model A V8-60 transplant

The rear end will hold up to a real V8 like a 85hp flat head. So no worry there, but the 60hp will reduce your power. Even a 85hp has less torque than the stock 40hp 4 cylinder. I do have two A's with the 85hp engines.

I put a V8-60 in a 29 roadster and it is a blast to drive. I put in a quickchange rear end from New Zealand. The lower gear ratio makes it operate well. I did it mostly for looks, but it is a blast to drive unless you are climbing hills. Everyone is right on the power end and the model a rear holds up well.Putting a v-8 rear end into it would take some engineering. bolts on the banjo have a different spacing also.

While looking through some of my Early Ford V-8 Club magazines and watching the Indy Race, I found an article in the Jan-Feb 2011 V-8 Times magazine that may be of interest to some titled "How To Get 160 Horsepower From a Ford V8-60" by Dave Cole.

I built a '30 coupe with a big flathead in an "A" frame with an uncut firewall, and the radiator in the stock place. Im convinced a V8-60 could be put into an A frame with the firewall and everything in the stock place without too much hassle. If you have any questions PM me. Be more than happy to answer anything I can. Im pretty certain a stock rearend will be fine with a little 60.
