Hoogah: Love their '28 Phaeton. Looks like they mounted an oil bath air cleaner on the fire wall and ran a radiator flex hose to the carburetor intake? Very ingenious. Never thought of that myself. The car must have traveled on gravel roads. Whomever gets/got this car has a very precious piece of history. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah, exactly right! This is farmer ingenuity at work, as is the tractor. Unfortunately, these vehicles are sitting in a shed right now due to the circumstances I described. I made inquiries about the car but couldn't get anywhere - I reckon it will stay that way until it becomes part of an estate. Only hope that the rats don't do too much damage in the meantime. I really hope they both end up staying in the district, as they are part of our local heritage.

Offer to put the phaeton up on jack stands set inside 5 gallon buckets to keep the mice from getting into it. Will save the car and might allow you the chance in the future to be first in line to purchase it when the time comes.
Too many cars and trucks go bad from the effects of vermin.
We own a 30 Standard roadster in much the same condition as the farmer 28 Phaeton and we take it out summers and just do basic maintenance. The paint is terrible, but the sheet metal is spectacular. People ask why I don't "restore" it, so I tell them that it is a part of our history. Restore the basket cases, not the good cars. Don't give up the hunt.
Hooga: You asked, so here it is. Quick back story: "Restored" in 1957 with NOS eyebrow front fenders and radiator shell. Sold to me over 40 years later by the same man who restored the the car back in 57. He was young then so he went with the pastel green on everything along with the 57 Chevy/Buick style upholstery and white top. The top is getting rotten, so we have patched it in several places with a hot glue gun. It's not an original car that has never been apart, but rather, a period restoration, and we enjoy the car for that reason. Photos were taken last March in preparation for a local car show featuring "survivor cars". To me, this one is too good to restore. Thanks for looking.
