Model A hoarder

I think I'm becoming a model A part's hoarder. My wife looking at my piles of wheels said how many are you planing to putt on that car.

How many spare engines/transmissions/reareneds/etc. do you need to have to be considered a hoarder.......According to my wife ANY. But ya gotta keep the "A" on the road! Now wheels, ya gotta buy a bunch just to find a good one. Then sell the pile off to the next guy. My name is Harry and I am a parts hoarder....... :-)

A wise friend clued me into something I would never had thought of. He said if you have a lot of parts, store them at a friend's place (let's call this friend, Joe) and let Joe store his parts at your place. When your wife asks about all the parts lying around, you have a convenient excuse. "Oh those are not my parts, I'm just storing them for Joe." Just don't let your wife talk to Joe's wife!

Good idea, I wish I would have thought of that before my wife left. I miss her, but my aim is improving.

Pic's from inside the parts barn a couple of years ago. Rod

Love the horse collar in pic #4! I guess it could be considered a part if you went back to the barn and used the horse to pull the car home.

Has not been too many years ago since we used horses to rake hay. Full harness set is stored in the rafters of grandma's garage right now. Hoping we don't decide to go that far back in technology, but am well prepared if we do. Local man puts on an exhibition every year and puts up hay with horses for a weekend. Lots of fun to watch, but glad I am not running things at the stacker,, been there done that. Rod

I thought you could never have enough "A" parts. LOL

Nice pile, how many rusted out gas tanks? Need a 29firewall section out of one that is too far gone for even the hotrodders. Prefer March. April or May dates, but would settle for no date at all. No need to be pretty about removal, just take a sawzall and cut on the back side of the firewall, can clean off what I don't need. Rod

Do you think this counts as hoarding.

I don't think Model A hoarding is too bad, you can always put together another one with the parts and have some left over for still another one. I made a mistake back in the eighties when I bought an unfinished 50 Ford woody and attempted to finish that along with a Model A. Can you imagine how much room it takes to store 50 Ford wagon hoods, tailgates, fenders etc. along with Model A parts? I would have had to build another garage. Well I bit the bullet and sold the 50 woody then I was just down to Model A parts, not so bad.

My Dad often asks if I have this etc. He knows someone looking for that part, I hoard because you really don't know what you need if you have projects that you plan on starting. I guess it just gets into your blood.

Am I the only one that uses a modern car to store parts in ? The car dealer offered me $ 200 for my 91 ford station wagon on trade (still running and good tires! ) I drove it home and filled it with parts . It is sort of a dislpay case for parts and keeps them dry . Bubby sharp in KY
