A hoard of Model A engines I discovered last October on one of my trips to Brazil (You may remember this photo from the old FordBarn):

Engine stands

The questions of engine stands came up the other day. Brad's photo shows a large number of stands that don't require bolting to the engine. Looks like they just sit on the pan rail. This would work on engines that don't have flywheel housings and/or timing covers installed, but you would want to have a pan bolted on or at least in place. A couple of the engines appear to be setting on a loose pan.

My wife thinks I have way too many "A" parts. Just cause I have about 15 engines, many with ******'s and the rest of the parts that fill a shed and a bunch more in the barn!!?! Next time she says anything about too many parts, I'll show her Rowdy's pictures. That will keep her quiet for a while! Or maybe not! Don/WI

My wife calls it junk, but I remind her that Junk is what you throw away 3 weeks before you need it. Save everything and never be in need. I dont think she quite agrees yet, something about storage room.

I sold off my pile when I decided I wasn't going to try to build another A out of the junk behind my garage. Now I have one large cabinet in my garage full of labeled bin boxes with small parts I buy at swap meets to keep my four running As on the road.

As a kid I visited some great museums, Smithsonian etc... I'm sure they were nice but nothing wowed me like visiting my grandfathers shop to visit all his car "stuff" or the garages of his friends to see their hoarde of old car stuff. I prefer the term curator instead of hoarder! More class and dignity. We need a higher PR profile, it is up to we the protectors of all things old to blow our own horn as to the service we are offering humanity. My wife is a scrapbooker so I don't have a problem......

Right on, Stretch Cab! I am going to use "Curator" from now on when somebody asks about my inventory. I like that !

Do you have any more photos of your "stretched" cab in the avatar or did you just move the top back for the photo?

Here are a couple of my "Club" Cabriolet. The car originally came from Argentina as pictured in the Avatar as I think they call the little picture. When I took the car apart the body was in horrible condition. I was living in Mexico at the time so I took the car into Mexico in 13 pieces in the back of my 15 passenger van to a body man there. Along with Brookville patch panels and torch and wire welding the body is back together. I could have put it back as an original cabriolet but thought the extra room would be nice for the grandkids. I plan to get back on the car by the end of summer.

I admire and like you already and never even met you. Since I have a garage that is 48' x 72', you can send (only) one completed Model A to my place.

Thanks in advance,

Bobpo

P.S. Does not have to be running. I can handle that.................................
