100 Jahre Hohensyburg Rennen, Dortmund, 26. October 2025
The gods of storm, rain and temperature were not on our side, it was wet and cold, about 9°C (about 49° Fahrenheit). At least the storm calmed down a bit in the later morning.
About 60 cars were there, some had cancelled their appearance due to the weather but most drivers were weather-proof enough to make the trip to Dortmund. Some in their open cars, brave women and men.
Star of the show, at least for me was a Opel GP1, only three were built in 1914 and all three are still in existance. 4 or 5 Model As, from Coupe to s/w Fordor.
The trip around the original racetrack (this was the only country-road circuit in 1925 in germany, all other racetracks were on not public roads) was very nice. Lots of spectators by the side of the road, much waving and smiling faces. Our aoogaah stopped working after about five minutes, bugger.
Hopefully the ASC (a german vintage car club, founded in 1900!) will do the event again next year, hopefully a bit earlier in the year with better weather. I will keep you informed!
