This is taking place on the coming sunday, 26. october. Quite a nice range of cars should be there: from a 1914 Opel GP1, a Riley Brooklands and a 300SL Flügeltürer. Several Ford Model As...

That looks like a wonderful event to attend especially being the 100th anniversary I wish I was in Germany there to videotape it!!!

100 Jahre Hohensyburg Rennen, Dortmund, 26. October 2025

The gods of storm, rain and temperature were not on our side, it was wet and cold, about 9°C (about 49° Fahrenheit). At least the storm calmed down a bit in the later morning.

About 60 cars were there, some had cancelled their appearance due to the weather but most drivers were weather-proof enough to make the trip to Dortmund. Some in their open cars, brave women and men.

Star of the show, at least for me was a Opel GP1, only three were built in 1914 and all three are still in existance. 4 or 5 Model As, from Coupe to s/w Fordor.

The trip around the original racetrack (this was the only country-road circuit in 1925 in germany, all other racetracks were on not public roads) was very nice. Lots of spectators by the side of the road, much waving and smiling faces. Our aoogaah stopped working after about five minutes, bugger.

Hopefully the ASC (a german vintage car club, founded in 1900!) will do the event again next year, hopefully a bit earlier in the year with better weather. I will keep you informed!

some other cars...

The races in 1925 also included classes for bikes and bikes with sidecars...
This, obviously, does not show one of the racebikes, i thought it a very nice bike to go out on in summer with your loved-one...

and, last but not least, a photo from the races back then. You decide, they were either real heroes or daft as a brush.

For the german speakers: Fährste quer, siehste mehr... :)
