master cylinder swap

Looking for info and pix on swapping out my single pot master cylinder(56 Ford) to a dual pot drum/drum. Understand a 67 Ford Mustang MC will work but not real sure of procedure. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The Stang master should bolt right up. If your old master is the 4-bolt type, just use nuts and bolts at the top. Take the old master out, measure the length of the rod, make the new master rod length adjustment the same.

Now you have to deal with the brass block where all the lines go into. It is probably a 1-in and 3-out. Remove the rear line and cap off that port. Hook up the rear brake line to the rear port on the master (expect to make up new lines or a short piece to reach the master). Hook up the front brake line to the front port on the master.

Again, you'll either have to make or buy a pre-made line. Napa has them in 10", 12", 18" lengths and longer, no flaring to do with those.

Watch the video posted by a member of the 1952-59 Ford Group on the HAMB:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXfXKlj2D1I There is an easier way than plugging the 3 way which I used get two 3/16" fittings like this in the picture below and run one to the front and one to the rear, also be sure to use a flare nut wrench on the lines they strip easily soak around the fittings with PB Blaster the night before you tackle the project. You will have a better chance of getting your fittings at Ace Hardware than the Auto parts box stores.

AS Jeff mentioned, the pressure switches occasionally fail.
I still like them and use Harley Davidson pressure switches & DOT 5 silicon fluid, which the Harley's use. That way there is no rust when you take things apart and it's especially good in cars that are not often used.
I had in my 39 Ford for over 25 years.
