Marvel Mystery Oil

It was suggested to me to put 4ozs of Marvel Mystery Oil in each tank of gas for better performance and longer engine life. Is this good advice? Is anyone else doing this? Any potential downsides to making it part of a standard diet for Model A? How about as an additive in the Crankcase?

Thanks

I've been looking for a searech feature but haven't found one yet...where is it?

Thanks Mike

I feed all my engines MMO. The dumb ones get ATF in the MMO bottle, don't tell 'em.

WhenI was mowing my own lawn, at the end of the season I 'm run the gas almost empty and the all straight MMO. This woud kill the motor but in the spring it would always start.

Good stuff

I'll probably be the only guy to say this...

MMO made no difference for me. I'm sorry; it just didn't. I'm sure it works great for a lot of people; otherwise how could it remain on the market? It can't be just for unsticking valves, right? There must be additional value that people pay for. But for me, it did nothing.

My car ran exactly the same with or without. Zero difference. But hey... I'm only one guy.

Clem, go see if you can stare at the "dumb" ones for 30 seconds without blinking! THEY KNOW!!!
ATF is a great additive for chronic sticking valve stems, it is an excellent varnish remover & a superior lubricant, just don't put too much. I've known reputable mechanics that used 1 quart to an oil change instead of Rislone as a good cleaning agent. I've known of some standard transmissions that specified ATF as their gear oil even, as an example, Volvo, with the Laycock overdrive, and some Mopars in the 60's. Bill W.

4-OZ. To very 10-Gal. In all my flatheads .....Used it in my 38' H-D for thirty five year ...
I started using it when Leaded fuel was a thing of the past.

Bottom line it works..has to be one of the biggest feeds on fordbarn with tons of answers from everyone for great to i wont touch it...I use it from day one of my new engine and will continue but do what all say above and search the FB for all the feeds. Good luck

Ok, I know I am slow. But this thread and the others on this subject everyone tells how long they have used it and in what. But how are the engines different today if you had not used MMO? Lots of engines run for many years and many thousand miles. Trying to find out exactly what MMO does.

MMO creeps & stays around bearings ,preventing dry starts.
case in point I have a '53 Chevy 235 engine sitting 4,5,6 months
at a time, with 30w oil she coughs sputters & cranks over rough
fires off & throws black soot on the floor.......drained refilled with
MMO starts right up,just like I just ran er....no smoke no ruff starts
I keep it in EVERYTHING I've Got Cushmans Marveled helps them
thru the sittin periods & saves my Kicker! use it. ATF also, run it
in MY BIG Diesels, protects the injector system from wear
I run it my A too, Gas tank & oil......while your at it don't forget
the STABIL.....

Agreed Msmaron

My new engine, rusty gas tank, prickly Tiltson carb and all that is my Model A driver just didnt work very well until that shinning moment when I put 4 oz. of the Mystery Oil in my gas tank. I did that because of these crazy MMO treads on the Ford Barn. At the precise moment my A was fed MMO, it began to run like a top. Why? I have no idea.

My 1997 F250 (Light Duty) with 200k plus miles ran "just okay" but nothing like new. A week after the Mystery Oil went into the A, the truck got 4 oz per 10 gals. The truck now runs close to new. Why? I have no idea.

Some things are just a mystery.

Forker,

As of today, I will be sticking with a high quality oil with no additives.

I stumbled across a review of over 80 motor oils done by a guy
on another forum I belong to, I posted his results on a thread
here on the forum.

It now makes sense to me that any additive changes the composition of
the motor oil and the performance of it as a result.

Previously, I have added MMO at every oil change at a 15% ratio.

Now I will stick with a high rated oil with no additives.

I don't see a problem with MMO or Seafoam in the gas tank.

Just my two cents - not the gospel truth mind you .... ;)

Skibb,

MMO and Women are two of the greatest mysteries .... ;)

My dear old dad ran MMO in the fuel for his plane for 30 years and never killed himself so it can't hurt.

A clean burning oil in your fuel can only do you good.

Not have MMO available but i put a strange lightweight oil in my gas a few times. Did not hurt, seemed to run cooler too. My theory is it coated the cylinder walls and valves with a light mist of heat resistant oil which helped cushion loose parts, reduced wear etc. i should use it more often.
