Marvel Mystery Oil

My son is building a custom motorcycle and says that MMO polishes aluminum. I guess if you don't like it in your engine you can use it to polish your fishing boat.

I use it every oil change .Haven't used it in the gas tank as of yet .Going to give it a try when I fire up my truck in a few weeks .I wonder what would happen if MMO was used in place of oil in a engine ,I don't have any spares laying around to try it in.

The biggest benifit to MMO/ATF was seen on our last Summer Tour. Vapor locking was happening to pretty much everyone, except for the cars that were adding the ATF/MMO to the fuel.

Thanks everyone...

I appreciate the sharing of your experiences and useful information/advice.

Jim, I think I will take your suggestion for now and use MMO as a fuel additive and stay with a quality oil.

Also in the future I'll try to do a search before asking any more worn out questions.

"It was suggested to me to put 4ozs of Marvel Mystery Oil in each tank of gas"

......by who was it suggested, and on what scientific basis?

What is the purpose of contaminating your gasoline with oil ?

Model A Ford engines have lasted 80 years without any top cylinder lubrication.

If your engine was built to Henry's specifications there is no need for contaminating your gas with oil.

Adding MMO to the gas will also help keep rust out of the tank.
Now that I've got the cooling system in top shape I might have to try a tank of crap gas on a hot summer day, then if it still has vapor lock I'll add some MMO and try it again.

All I know is, Swami Mark said to add MMO to the fuel, so I add MMO to the fuel. No questions asked.

I have a quart of MMO on the shelf in my garage, just so I can positively answer the question: "Do you have any MMO?" Never have used it, but might someday.
