Please see the photo of my Autolite heater manifold cover, which is cast iron and very old, but recently repainted by me.
It is covering the stock manifold and not the aftermarket waffle-type exhaust manifold. There are no mounting holes on this particular Autolite manifold cover. (I understand that the Autolite heater manifold cover that is specifically designed to be used with the waffle-type exhaust manifold can be easily bolted on.)
I have 3 questions:
1. What can I use to connect the firewall hole to the Autolite heater, since they are slight off-set from each other and about 1.5 inches apart?
Without connecting the two with some kind of metal pipe, I am not getting any heat into my car. (I have tried using aluminum foil without success.)
2. Is there a better way to secure the cover to the exhaust manifold, compared to how I did it with two pieces of wire as shown in the photo?
3. Is this particular heater configuration, without the use of a waffle-type exhaust manifold, capable of providing sufficient heat for my sedan, or is it a cheap and poor solution to using a waffle-type exhaust manifold and matching Autolite manifold heater cover?
Thank you for your assistance!
