This is turning out to be a great thread with so many tips on new (at least new to me) vendor names and websites. Living across the pond makes ordering and waiting for the parts to arrive seem like a lifetime, and I'm soooooo ready to use someone else rather than Mac's.
Past experiences:
I order a Cabriolet windshield frame. After months of waiting I ask where is it, what have you done to my order? Answer goes along the lines of "oh, it's just been shipped!" Great news. I wait for it to arrive surface mail across the Atlantic. I open the parcel and what do I see; a brown box with picking label indicating that it actually holds a Cabriolet windshield frame AND another picking label saying that it's a closed car frame. Even without opening the box I know which it is and opening it only confirms my doubts. I contact Mac and get into a three week debate about them charging my credit card for something I had not ordered in the first place and how they'd want the item back. Mind you I had already paid VAT and tax on import so it was turning out to be a very expensive frame. I send them several quotes for sending it back and in the end they agree that I keep the frame and they refund the money. End of story but I'm left without the correct windshield frame. They did offer to back order one for me but no guarantee how long that would take. Mind you I was quoted the two weeks which is their usual line for everything not stocked.
Then another order. Again I wait for months and when I ask what's keeping it they send me an e-mail telling me that it's been sent out the same day I asked for its whereabouts. By then I had waited for FOUR months. I ask them whether they are mad sending me something four months late, I no longer need the parts. They recall the order and have it directed back to their depot.
The thing common to these orders is that when I inquire about them it seems like a wake up call prompting them to act. They send the order out the same day after they've been holding my money hostage for months. When they realise that something needs doing asap they pay no attention to what they're doing and send out shipments consisting of the wrong parts.
I order a hood. It's missing the handles. I contact Mac's and they ask me for the order number. Shouldn't they be able to look it up on their files since they have my name and address..? I sent it them and don't hear back from them. This was a couple of weeks ago and it seems as if I will have to take it up with them again.
Yes you can deal with Mac's as long as you are persistent and ready to invest time in chasing up your orders.
Oh wait, maybe I should have added the $3.50 "rush my order" fee to all my orders and I now wouldn't be caught up in this mess!
