Guys how much can you machine the 40' s brake drums?
The killer part comes when you have an accident and the lawyer for the person you hit claims that it is your fault since the drums were turned beyond what is considered the standard industry practice and you couldn't stop in time. It is also possible that you can't find a shop that will turn them beyond .060.Even if they are .080 over it's not a deal killer. However, not matching the shoe OD to the drum ID is.
Hell Charlie, I can't find anyone in this town smart enough to measure them when they turn 'em. I even had a good friend at a Dodge dealership argue with me when he turn my rears on my 29 rpu. I asked what they measured and he said "what difference does it make?" Guy at NAPA doesn't even have a measuring device. The killer part comes when you have an accident and the lawyer for the person you hit claims that it is your fault since the drums were turned beyond what is considered the standard industry practice and you couldn't stop in time.
