Lowering a 53

If you lowered the rear and didn't change the shocks(to shorter shocks) it will most certainly bottom out on the shocks.
You may want to reconsider your assumption that shorter shocks
would be required if lowering blocks were installed as it pertains to a '53.
The shocks are mounted to a plate under the springs and that location does not change in relation to the upper mount.
The only thing that moves is the axle in relation to the body.

Will probably go with the Aerostar springs and kyb shocks with some blocks at the rear-think these are the same dimensions as English fords
Ian

Just a note; I re-installed the original shocks when I put in the Aerostars (mainly because they were almost new), and I have had no problems or bottoming. Granted, I try to keep on the best roads I can with this car, but they work for me.

The springs are probably a no brainer, $59 from amazon, the lowering blocks I'm fairly sure will be available here, car has 65k miles from new so shocks may or may not be original? Should I order new ones anyway?
Ian

Could someone give me a link for correct rear lowering block kit(maybe from summit as that's where I'm thinking of ordering springs from)
Thanks
Ian

That would be my preference but car is in CA and I'm in the uk, will be another 5 weeks yet. Hoped to get the parts put in the trunk

Then the answer is simple, assume that it is 3". Any correction, if necessary, can be taken care of at a later date.
( hope you're not taking it over there to transplant the steering wheel to the right side :))
