Could it be POSSIBLE that Tony is (perhaps) a bit more meticulous or discriminating than "others"? DD
Thank You so much DD.
all I try to be is Honest & not mislead or bash anyone through out this process.
Thanks to "All" for their support on this venture !!!

YOU sir, most-certainly haven't "bashed" anyone...class act! Now, back to makin' "rumpety-rump" cams. DD

Pete , my statement is the honest truth ... I am not implying that it is "Black Magic" .. all I am stating is that "I" dont know how the master was made !!! I did not imply anything about "Unobtainium " as you put it ! All I simply stated was that I dont know & that my great friend & cam grinder will only grind masters on Saturdays . (or when he is alone ) That is his choice !
I simply did not want to tell folks how the Master was made when I "honestly" dont know or see it happen , so sorry if I misled or confused anyone at all.
I had also stated previously that there was an issue with the cams that we were wanting to copy (I,m pretty sure you have read all my posts). These cams were not ground by my cam grinder!!
I am sorry if I have offended you or ticked you off in any way at all!! As you have been a tremendous asset to our old car hobby!!! & a wealth of information to us all including myself !!
Cheers
Tony:)

Ok.

I believe my mail mans gonna having to get out of his lil van to bring these long skinny boxes to my front porch !
but I sure are happy!!!
Thanks guys .............

G'Day all.... I have had several PM,s asking what model Flathead cams we can grind the
KiWi-L100 cam grind on ? We can grind on any cam from 1932 to 1953 Ford flathead engine !! But not on the LIL V8/60 cams , we may have grinds for the V8/60 in the future .
Thanks to all for their support with this !!!
Send em in guys ==="You Sendem =We Grindem ===
Cheers
Tony

It sure is cool when someone has a vision, and then makes a plan that comes together so well......and so quickly! Rumpety-rump! DD

Yep...exactly right! Others could have done this but didn't. You took the bull by the horn and made it happen. Congratulations and the best of luck with your venture.

So can someone answer the question that has NOT been answer ? why is a L100 so special or what are the specs...........thanks

Anyone know what the 3/8 stands for? 3/8 mile track? That is a long duration for the lift cam. I would think these long durations would kill low end torque?

Not sure detonation is the problem, long duration cams shift the torque curve to the higher rpm range. This is true of all engines not just flatheads. Not saying it's a problem, just be aware that you will most likely have less HP than a stock motor at lower RPMs and have to get into the upper RPM range to exceed the stock HP. That's what low gears are for!:)

It got that name from .375 lift.

To work best it needs to go in an at least a 276 ci engine. More ci is better.

I can do a couple of grinds for the V860.
One is the 404 jr. the other is the 620.
Both are competition grinds and require special lifters.
I have the tools for the key installation but would have to have several orders to warrant making the radius lifters.

Pete what is the 620 ? I have the 404jr as you know , brand new from Isky & several other V8/60 cams that I will list later .
Cheers

The 620B is a mushroom lifter grind.
Requires back spot facing the block.
Only lifts .315 so not a very good performer also.

Sorry to be such a numb skull here, but I don't know what an L100 cam is. I googled it and it sounds like it is a reground stock cam, but smaller due to the material that was removed thus necessitating longer valve stems. Am I anywhere near correct in my understanding on this?
Thanks

Hey Numb: Well sort of close, most of the material removed is from the heal of the lobe, and then there is more material move off the side (or ramp ) of the lobe, making it steeper, to open the valve faster, now at the top of the lobe... this is where it really gets harry... and no one will tell, it ether to a point or it's wide flat.?? the wide flat is not for the street, it what we call WOT ( wide open throttle )...longer duration, low torque, not good off the line, good for the straight-a-way .....the lobe with the point is quick open and close, and is in close timing with the other lobes, also the ramp down, from the point is also in play, fast for valve closing....good for the street... it's up to, you to get the right cam, its a crap shout ?? AND... to your main question... YES ..the hotter the cam,, you will need to make up some "material" weld the valve steam, adj.lifters .... thats what little I know about it... I haft to say been there done that, and now in my second childhood, and doing it again ........OLD......BILL:cool:

I have one of these in my stash as well. Curious where you got it?

I got my from Moon/Potvin when Bill Jenks was still alive. Reason I ask is I can still remember talking to Bill. He was a great and knowledgeable fellow. I did find it odd that he didn't know other people were copying Potvin grinds. He was quite aggravated to hear that and said they aren't the same if they are a copy without the master.

Not sure but he may be right. RIP Bill.
