Saturday morning, the MAFCA club sent a nice and positive 'Happy 4th of July' email to its members, picturing a 1930 coupe in a pretty pastoral scene.
I am not a fan of AI, as I feel its impact is being way over-hyped. It can certainly collate vast amounts of information and see patterns that have been missed. But IMO it lacks discernment and originality. Perhaps some will have heard that Ford has rehired certain human inspectors who had been replaced by AI systems, as those systems were not getting the job done as well. A friend used AI to generate a biography of my life about a year ago and it completely ignored an international organization I help to create and to run for almost 20 years, while including copious verbiage about an insignificant accomplishment.
Here's a comparison of the coupe from the email with a genuine coupe photo from almost the same angle. Close inspection will reveal significant differences. While I appreciate the patriotic sentiment embodied in this email, I question the wisdom of using an ersatz AI-generated car in something being sent to the very group of people most likely to notice the differences. I don't believe it could have been that hard to use a genuine coupe image in that email.
I mean no insult to the MAFCA folks who sent out the email.
How does everyone else feel about this?
