Is your preference a 28, 29, 30 or 31 Model A?

Primarily 30-31s, but still have the desire to own a 4 or 5 digit Model A. 3 digit cars are out of my price range otherwise I'd own one!

The very early 28s have a certain allure to them, an allure that has me wanting to park one next to my 30-31 Model A's.

I have owned a few of each year, 28 to 31, and just like people they all have different "personalities" both good and bad. I like them all for different reasons.

I have a 31, I like the looks of a 28/29 but with smaller wheels. My ultimate choice though would be another 32.

My first Model A was an Early 1928 Roadster and never again. I really liked the Roadster, but when it came to interchanging some parts, as simple as wheels, required the Early Model A wheels. Had it for almost 6 years.

My second Model A is the one in my avatar, late 1928 Tudor and I love it. Did have to change the oil filler tube with the one that has the flex hose on it to relocate the oil fumes away from the cab.

I bought the Tudor in April, we have put a lot of miles on it. Every weekend, the family is going on a cruise to another city for events.

My preference is a 1931, any model. I just wished that I would of bought a Model A 30 years ago.

30 to 31. The styling on them leads the way more to the 32 Ford which is what ever Model A owner wishes they had. At least I do. :)

My son found this on a New Zealand auction site (Law students !! shouldn't have time to surf the net .) Let me see NZ$ 70k is about US$55K if my Math is right . You would have to live with RHD and also what looks like a 34 motor as opposed to the original 32 -Karl

I prefer the 28 and 29 because I like the larger wheels. A 29 would probably be better since it has more design improvements than the 28. I have a 28 leatherback and really enjoy it.

An interesting aside.......when showing pictures of my Model A's to "non-old car people" they would ALWAYS pick the red 31 pickup as their favorite. Every person every time! I have never figured that out as there were pictures of coupes, roadsters, phaetons, tudors and yes the truck.

I have favored the 28-29 but have enjoyed the 30-31 also. If I am looking for a Model A to buy now it would be a 1929 Cabriolet. Any one know of a nice one for sale?

I prefer the older look of the 28/29's with their taller skinny tires, especially the square topped CCpickup. I also like the 30/31 roadsters, perhaps the sleekest of the A's

IMO the '28s-'29s have a more antique appearance with the reverse cowl pillar, fender design, smaller hood, etc. Some people think the later models have less mechanical issues and they do have better cooling. The '29 roadster is difficult to enter especially from the driver's side. I would not want a 30 because of that quirk with the running board/splash apron.
