Installation Kong distributor

How cool is not this old Kong distributors !
I would love found the early one ( seems like the same cap as I has ) but I’ll seen a early with another cap.
Look on this roadster from 1948.

I has the same cap I has, but was it a ’Glendale Ca ’ or a ’Champion’ I cant tell, but I suspect the Champion is 50’s (?)
They also has the DSM coils I bought and ignition terminals.

Its a rather cool deal with the Kurten to.

I will try to understand how the Kong works vs pointers etc.

Look at this picture first picture, the straight pin on the rotor is pointed to a pin in the cap and pointers is open. Se tush mark, that is the pin in the cap.
Then look at the other side of the angled part. Tush mark on 180 degree.
Next picture you see the axle.
-Can someone make something out of this ?

Anyone who has some ideas what source I can use to find a rotor.

In all my parts I collected to my coupe, and I had a light 'idea' what to build but was able to bought what I could find as this is very old stuff.
But when there I always was able to find spare parts and information, but the Kong Jackson deal seems to be very hard.
I think I seen a guy up in Indy area working with old electronics, and I think I mailed him but as often no answers back, but now I can't find this shop or person.
-Ideas who it could be ?

I believe the Angled rotor is for the Nash Twin 8 and the. Angled rotor allows second plug in same cylinder to fire at a different time. That’s just a guess on my part as far as timing.

Maybe one can find a Ducoil new or used rotor if they made allot of them.
I might can try 3D print one aswell.
But best is to find the correct one, there must be one ’somewhere’ ..

Bell Auto catalog 1949, hard to say if ’Glendale’ or ’Champion’ tag.
Then they sold the DSM coils and the ignition terminals I has.

I borrowed all of Kongs photos and distributor ads he had and copied them. He had really nice 8X10 photos of the Kong distributor taken around 1948, I don't think those photos were ever printed. I'm pretty sure they were taken for a magazine article that was never printed. I have copies of them here somewhere??? I have so much flathead and hot rod literature that my dad collected and then I got hooked on collecting the stuff. I remember Kong might of have had one of his old distributors at his shop he was working on for someone. He didn't even have one for himself. Since there were no more caps and rotors available for the original Kongs he had started making a new style flathead distributor. He had sold just a few of them when I was there. He was nice guy, he would tell you anything you wanted to know, no secrets. I miss all those guys.

I would love see those pictures !

I know the early had a knurked edge and a brass tag, but nice to see what was on picture 1948.
I’m guessing ’champion’ on tag was 1950 (?)

I checked with multi meter and this rotor is wrong, when rotor is straight it works.
This in cap the mid section is either broke or std totor has a tip up.

Here are the rotors with their specific to their distributor. One das a double D. There is also pics of DuCoil NOS distributor and spare rotor. The 2 DuCoil rotors although both inter change one has brsss contact plat one has aluminum. Very nicely made as are the DuCoil caps. The Kong double D rotor is from dizzy with brass plates inside and the clear cap was supposedly Kongs own bench test and development distributor.
