I read my owners manual, push down turn counterclockwise, ok but no go. It only goes down so far and only twist so far but not enough for it to pop out.
I can only turn it about 3/8 to 1/2 inch. One side does stick up above the wheel higher then the other ruffly 1/8" compared to 1/16 inch. I don't want to pry on it and mess it up if I can help it. Any ideas, I need to replace the missing in action horn wire.
I wondered what that wire was for that is just hanging there with a connector on it, touched it to one of the generator studs, found out my horn works! :)

If you pry you will break the plastic button. Keep pushing it down and turn it back and forth. Dirt builds up and makes it hard to unlatch. The way its made it pretty hard to get any kind of lube like wd40 in there to help

OK! I'll just keep working at it. :) I'll just remind myself every time I get in to work it a little while shes warming up or at a red light. At least I know the horn will not sound till I fix the wire.

Here's what's underneath. The loops in the spring are what seat in the grooves of the button. Working it back and forth as suggested, and side to side, will eventually make it free.

Got off this AM while warming the truck off. Photos above show just what was under the button. I found even less wire then I hoped to find, broke off about an 1" under the insulating button. No big deal, some wire, solder and bullet and back in business! :)
Thanks everyone for your quick replies.

Heatsrink tubing over a solder joint might be a good idea?, I was one step ahead on that one. :)
New wire installed, things back together, HONK-HONK! :)
