Hi Don, Thank you for the Post where you Qouted - Quote:
If you look close, you may find some factory dimples marking the spots to drill. Sort of like a center punch mark.
This Morning I removed the Splash Shield, Then I went to my Son's house, (on a Frame some one cut off behind the center crossmember) He has my Front Fenders, Fender Braces, Running Boards and Headlight Bar, mounted, to do the body work on the Fenders. This frame had the Holes drilled in them on both sides of the frame from the Factory. The 3 holes that hold the spare tire bracket are 5/16" and the Center Hole is 3/4"
I did find the Dimples, so now I can Drill the Holes in the Frame. My next Question I hope You or Some One Else can answer, is what Size Hole do I drill in the Splash Shield, I see I need to insert a Grommet in the Hole.
To line up the center 3/4" hole for drilling into the Splash Shield, I drilled a 1/4" hole in the frame which I will use a 3/4 Drill bit later. To get the almost close mark to drill in the splash shield, I am reinstalling the shield, put the body back down, and using a 8" piece of 1/4 all thread, nutted on each side of 1/4 hole in frame, run It out untill it touches the back side of the Splash Shield, and marking around the end of the bolt.
Then drilling a 1/4 hole from back, If I can find out what size hole needs to be drilled to accept the Grommet and Arm, I will drill it out and reinstall shield, and can install Carrier Arm later when I purchase one. Thanks Jazzjr
