Nice cars, great weather, no 49-A Special Coupes...:(

A real treat was seeing TWO Ford Model K's... a gray runabout and a blue touring car....

First time I've seen a K since the one at Zimmerman's Automobile-a-rama near Harrisburg, around 1977.

Always love the Brass and Nickel cars and the HPOF survivors... one of the "hits" there was a 191? "Duplex" dump-truck... FOUR WHEEL DRIVE ! :)

Going to take a car next year...

MARC, too. No insurance for parades or swap meets, presuamably because of the MAFCA-golf cart "incident." And there is specific language in the request form about carts and rented vehicles.
Whatcha gonna do? Attorneys have got to eat.

MARC has refused insurance to regions requesting a "certificate". This is not a request from the insurance company but a ruling made by the previous and current Board of Directors. They feel these are "risky" events even tho we have not had a major incident in over 35 years.
The insurance company does not have a problem with car shows and parts swaps. They do exclude timed events (hill climbs and racing) but have never said anything about car shows and swap meets. Most parades are hosted by the local village and if your region is participating they are covered as long as your region is not "hosting" it.
The insurance is still in effect to cover our events as long as you do not need a certificate to prove it. We pay for this insurance with our annual dues and we should have access to it.
Counting both MARC and MAFCA we have almost 100 years with only one major claim.
Just thought I would set the record straight,
Ken

I was there Weds Thurs and Friday. Walked all three days and wore my legs out. Luckily I go with my son and two young friends so they carry the heavy stuff. It won't be too many years before I will have to use an electric cart. It will be the only way that I could continue to enjoy Hershey. I Think I'll put an OOOGAAH horn on it.

Thanks for the comment, Glenn. It's nice to know you're not alone. I'm not against walking, But.....It can be tough when your in your 60s and you've just bought a tire and a Radiator and you have to pass on other stuff simply because you can't walk the distance under the load. I loved the show, I would like more of them! Anyone going to Pumpkin Run in south Jersey, in Nov?
Terry

I am 71 yrs, but still plan on doing the Hershey experience. Hope the motorized scooters are not banned sometime during the future, as I know my knees and hips would not stand up. For the smaller meets, I can still pack my shoulder bag for small trinkets, but also do like to pull along a fold up two wheeled cart. I have to agree with Terry,NJ that they need to accuire a traffic engineer to look at the layout for access and egress if that would save footsteps.
Hopefully next year we will make the trip.

Some of the golf carts were dragging soda pop cans to make noise. I thought that was a great idea. One guy was dragging an old hub cap. just enough noise so you can hear them coming and get out of the way,
Good ideas,
Ken

And what about those that just can not get out of the way? What about them?

Obviously the carts are a serious issue that needs to be addressed. all I was saying if you hear a cart coming with a pop can dragging it is a help that gives an early warning. The driver needs to be going slow enough for elderly to get out of the way. I sometimes step back to take a picture and fall over a shopping cart or golf cart trying to get a Photo. I do not know all the answers but a noisemaker is a good idea.
Of course, it works on asphalt but not grass and most of hershey is now asphalt.
Just some thoughts,
Ken

At the "TURKEY ROD RUN" in Daytona Beach, Fl., at the International Speedway, over Thanksgiving, the rule is : If you can take it into Walmart, you can bring it into the "TURKEY ROD RUN".
This eliminates the golf carts, but not the handicapped scooters. That works out great ! No body gets hurt.
MIKE :)

I went down for my first time, I had a great time. Sorry I did not meet anyone there went with a buddy had one day to shop, we were beat. Did get a couple of pieces for the 29, weather was great and the golf carts did'nt bother me, I figure if i'm in their way they can wait for me, if they see me. Next year we are planning to stay a couple nights.
