Had a very good day at Hershey today, met some fordbarners, the chili was great!! Thanks too all who put the party togather!!!

I ha d a good day, too. I didn't really need anything-or so I thought, so I walked fairly quickly and did about 95% of everything. Tired tonight!

It was a good day today. The Chili was great! Met a few Fordbarners. Missed a few who I was attempting to meet, but will try again tomorrow. Just got back from helping with the RM Auction at the Hershey Lodge. Drove a few Model A's for the Auction.

How about some pics of the atmosphere at Hershey.

Our largest swap at Bendigo is on next month.

There sure were a ton of golf carts and motorized chairs-to be expected I guess as the antique crowd ages. I just wish those folks would get some instruction on courtesy to pedestrians, driving and speed control. Multiple times i observed some guy staring at a car or vendor's wares while continuing to drive into a crowd of people.

If that keeps happening, one of these days there will be a bad accident and the situation will end up like the one that happened at Turlock, CA a few years ago.

From what I understood, that was a BIG mess for MAFCA and changed some things concerning swap meets.

Pluck

MARC, too. No insurance for parades or swap meets, presuamably because of the MAFCA-golf cart "incident." And there is specific language in the request form about carts and rented vehicles.
Whatcha gonna do? Attorneys have got to eat.

I agree with the golf carts and motor scooters but I got used to them and just learned to sidestep as I went.

Crappy weather on Wednesday caused a lot of vendors to shut down. Gorgeous weather Thursday and Friday though.

Overall, a great, last minute trip (I learned last Wednesday night that I was going to be able to attend). The steal of the trip for me was a very complete 60's era Hubley roadster for 10 bucks. Picked up mainly odds and ends, no major car parts (none really needed). I was looking primarily for trinkets and things. Got several.

Highlight was a chance to ride in a 1907 Ford Model K. That was definitely the coolest thing of the trip, possibly the year, and thank you to those who made it happen. Thursday night's auction was amazing how low most of the cars were going for. Even ignorning the pre-auction estimates, the cars were selling for far less than I would have imagined.

Great to see all the old friends and make some new ones!

Heading down tomorrow for the show ( only as a spectator ); hope to see a Special Coupe ?

Definitely looking forward to seeing "real" antiques ( pre-1950 ) and the HPOF vehicles.

I respect the carts and I think it's great that everything is now on blacktop so the less abled can still attend. At 61, maybe it wil be me soon. But, it does affect my enjoyment of the show if I need to keep one eye on the goodies and the other out for scootermen who aren't watching out for me. Just asking for mutual respect, really. And, maybe a governor to limit their speed-especially those maintenance crews.

Had a great time! Arrived Tuesday, left at 3:00 this afternoon. Fleamarket sure isn't what it used to be. The show had about 200 cars worth looking at. Lets face it it is a 1970's and 1980's show now complete with CELL PHONE DRIVERS ON THE SHOW FIELD!!!!!!!!!!! You think a golf carts are trouble?

First, I want to start off positive, the show was great! I wish it were longer! I went out Weds and Friday. However..... I'm in my sixties and it a lot of walking! Some of it unecessary! Why are the entrances halfway up the road ? (The one that divides the showgrounds) Why not at the corners ? Why make everyone walk over the bridge to get out? I was carrying a model A radiator and a tire at the end of the day and I estimate I walked a unecessary and extra 3/4 0f a mile with it. This was at the end of a long day! Yes, I wish that I had one of those golf carts! I was wondering if the EMTs could be trusted to hand over the parts to my survivors in case I stroked out. Hershey is a great show! But they ought to hire a traffic engineer to simplify the routes of pedesterians. And Put a crosswalk at the corners of the parking fields and the show grounds. It's going to take at least a week for my knee to get back to normal. And I ride my bike 3 1/2 miles everyAM, so the joints are not seized up. Just My $.02

I'll be 60 in December, I take a two wheeled handtruck with a large milk crate with me to all fleamarkets to carry items I buy. Exersise is good for you. My camera attracts overweight people in front of cars I want to take photos of.

I also had a great time at Hershey. I didn't make it to the Chillifest, but I did enjoy talking to Rainmaker Ron earlier in the day. A few showers on Wednesday did keep some vendors closed but I actually managed to find stuff I needed, so it was a good day for me. Car prices varied all over the place though. $13K for a Crosley and the jackpot 1936 Lancia Astura for $550K ---SOLD. I just wish the hotels wouldn't keep jacking up the prices during Hershey.

I sold more during the rain on Wednesday than I did on any of the other days. I had a great day. I had a wagon available to loan to any of my buyers who bought large items, but a lot of folks do bring their own carts. Here is my favorite of this year. I don't know if you can make it out, but it is labeled "1926 Jerkmobile".

I love Hershey! Where else can you see guys who are pretty much normal the rest of the year pushing baby buggies and wearing cardboard and hats with signs wanting to buy 80 year old car parts? :)

Thanks to Mrs and Mr carnut for bringing the cake to the chili fest. It was delicious and made the day even more special,
Thanks again,
Ken

I am 71 yrs, but still plan on doing the Hershey experience. Hope the motorized scooters are not banned sometime during the future, as I know my knees and hips would not stand up. For the smaller meets, I can still pack my shoulder bag for small trinkets, but also do like to pull along a fold up two wheeled cart. I have to agree with Terry,NJ that they need to accuire a traffic engineer to look at the layout for access and egress if that would save footsteps.
Hopefully next year we will make the trip.
