Hershey Feedback

I used to go on Saturday only due to job, children, etc. and the pickings were pretty good...in the last couple of years Saturday has been nearly useless for parts hunting, and this year the fleamarket was nearly a desert by mid morning. I did sell a thing or two though...and I was annoyed to find the root beer float wagon was long gone!

Yep, I agree about Sat.

Even some Friday afternoon's can be a hard for if the weather turns, some folks are packing up and leaving by noon.

Funny, I've found some great garbage finds on Sat. when guys have finally decided they will no longer cart around that useless, rusty unknown part another year.

As they say, one man's trash...

At the end of every Hershey I give away stuff. I usually pile it beside the trash cans and watch it go away. I gave away a working bike this year as well.

i went for my first time, found a single ALLSTATE flathead head, a late brass-era Rayo tail lamp for FREE, and 36 ford banjo wheel for $40, and a bunch of other small pieces I couldn't live without! not to mention a heck of a nice couple of days and a newly worn out pair of converse all-stars!

Dang! You did great. I also think someone on the HAMB is selling a single All State head so maybe you'll get to put together a set.

Good luck and maybe we'll see you next year.

1400 Miles from Texas in 22 hours, Chocolate World, AACA Museum, Hershey Trolley Tour, 3 days of walking 9-5, 1400 miles from Hershey to Texas 22 hours. What a trip!!

Old Cars and Chocolate....doesn't get any better than that!!:):):)

Hershey is an institution for the hobby. It was good and the weather was
supreme. I'm pretty sure the state of Pennsylvania will make sure it kills
the this wonderful goose that has layed golden eggs for the state for
decades. You will see fewer and fewer big names there in the future for
one simple reason....if you are a legit business the costs are staggering.
I'm a one man show and religiously pay my sales taxes, which ain't cheap,
a corporation gets whacked with a quintuple whammy in dollars.
Once the big boys are gone guess who goes under the hotlights....us...the
mom and pops. If anybody here thinks I'm blowing smoke just show up
without a current tax number when the state guy passes thru.
What can I say....Alice and I are signed up for next year.

Charlie:

Unfortunately, I think you are right. How sad that this is where the folks in Harrisburg have decided to focus their energy on.

Well, I haven't brought anything to sell for the past two years. Our spot has become a $70 parking spot.

Wouldn't trade it for the world since Hershey is in my blood and something I've done for all but two of the past 35 Octobers. BTW: I'm turning 41 this year.

See you all next year!

I bought this nice, original 47 there. Clock shows 35 K miles. Runs & drives like it too! Lots of parts to buy, cars a little expensive, but the deals are there. I always love the show on sat, but I think the quality of cars goes down every year. Less Classics & more Granadas, Gremlins, etc.

nice car! i went for the first time this year, but i was talking with a couple buddis who have been every year for the past 20 plus years...and another buddy whos a member of the AACA. SINCE the AACA puts on the show, and SINCE the club allows all cars 25 years old and older. THEREFORE we have grenadas and pintos, etc...

Nice car Rockey! I saw some nice originals at Hershey but they are getting harder and harder to come by.

I remember the first time I took my `35 cabriolet to a local car show. An old fellow came by and asked if I wanted to trade it for a Granada with 20,000 actual miles even up! I didn't want to hurt his feelings so I said it just wasn't my era. He came back again and I finally went to see it. Still wasn't interested...
