Generator side D or P

When mount the generator, one can has it on either driver or passanger side.
I guess for belt tension it dont matter much, or is one side prefered ?
I'm inspirated on the Bell Auto 49 catalog engine.
It has the Edelbrock Super inte, short open stacks, distributor std location 59A, 40 style 6V generator at driver side.
I found a nice passanger side mount with a rib ( seller just had this ) but my heads as a watertubes ( L&S ) that cause issues in several on my before...aplications on intake, carbs etc.
Now the electric studs on the generator is near into water house ( if I has it on passanger side )
I guess alternator house can't be rotated, or.

Hank, my gut instinct tells me that driver's side is better. With an offset generator, there is very little "wrap" on one of the water pumps. In my view it would be better to have the reduced wrap on the tight side of the belt. Due to the load on the generator, the driver's side is the tight side.

Just my thoughts.

Mart.

Just my ideas to. But just a ide vs I asked.
I also found this one, and its driverside but I did think its to curved vs head ribs.. plus I need modify as it cant go down into ribs on my head.
The other one did fit direct in head.

Mart, that’s the difference between an armchair grease monkey and one with actual dirty fingernails. The belt wrap would never have occurred to me and now makes perfect sense as I sit here with my Corona Extra. 🧐

Whatever side I has the generator the watertubes get into the generator so the 'slitz' for the mount need be welded and milled so it goes out more.
On passangerside the 2 electric studs goes into the radiator house rubber.
I searched and most picture shows the generator is more often on passanger side actually.
As ford38v8 said a beer might solve it ,- ))

If the terminal studs are in the way, new holes could probably be drilled in the housing and the studs moved. There is room inside.
