GAV turns forever

I have had my 1930 coupe for a couple of months now and am really enjoying it. I take it out for a spin every day. I have restored several '50s era MOPARs in the past and this is my first venture with a stock Model A. I have learned a lot from reading posts on the Ford Barn that have helped me understand how to drive the car properly. I have a question though concerning the gas adjusting valve (GAV). When I turn it clockwise to full lean, the GAV stops, but when I turn it counter-clockwise to a richer setting it appears that there is no stop. The rod will keep spinning no matter how far I turn it going counter-clockwise. Is there supposed to be a point where the GAV rod stops turning in a rich position?

Thanks Mitch. I read a post about the knob itself spinning so I put my hand through the window and turned the knob and watched the rod on the carb. The rod is spinning when I turn the knob. And when turning it counter-clockwise (rich) the rod just keeps on turning and turning.

No there is no stop in the ccw direction. If you turn too far you will unscrew the needle from the housing. You normally shouldn't need to enrich more than 1 to 1-1/2 turns ccw.

Thanks fellows. I appreciate the information. I thought maybe something was not as it should be, but it sounds like everything is okay.
