Frustrated timing issue-again

Just guessing, but if the point block is excessively worn, wouldn't that affect what happens when the distributor plate revolves??

Yes, if the top plate has radial play then the points gap can change, which also changes the timing. The same goes for a worn shaft or bushings for the shaft.

JBill and Tom, you may have some good ideas. I have another distributor restored so it may be worth changing it and to see if that makes a difference.

Often, the post that the moveable point arm pivots on, becomes loose & wobbly, re-tighten the staking on the bottom, with a center punch & a TAP, TAP, TAP!!!
