flathead Ford 6 / no spark at coil

The previous posts have covered it but try this (1),run the jump wire to the distributer .put a light bulb between it and the coil turn the engine (it should light up .)if not swap the battery post to neg .
(2) try it on both sides of the coil ,the side that it shines dullest is the side to connect the jumper to .(3) pull the coil wire from the distributor cap ,then flick the points with a screw driver it should spark of the end of the coil wire to the head , If there's no spark remove the internal points wire and check the insulation were it comes through the casing

UPDATE//// Re: flathead Ford 6 / no spark at coil

After some trying times on my flathead 226 ignition problems and trouble shooting tips primarily from flatheadted and 40cpe I found the part that was causing most of the problems.. The condenser was manufactured in Mexico and purchased at Napa here in town... I took the condenser from the dizzy and the darn wire fell off from inside the condenser.... I took the condenser back most directly...replaced it. I also put in a new wire that runs from the (-) side of coil in through the dizzy and connects to the points..., The old flathead tried to start up.. I have a feeling the timing could be off..but the spark issue is resolved... thanks for the advice/input..

Now to the timing..

I have 49 F1 w 226 it was running good. I decided to give the old girl a tune up. Replaced points, rotor, condenser. Took a 20 mile ride ran great. A couple days later I start her up and it ran like crap, thought it might be the carb. Took it apart and cleaned it. It wouldn't even start when primed.
Had really weak spark at points, took out new condenser and replaced it with the 30 year old one and VIOLA fired right and purred like a kitten.
I'd like to get a new one but don't want another junk one, does and one make a reliable one?

40cpe has it right. Jump from hot side of battery to coil + post and bypass ignition switch. It's quick and easy. If it starts, it tells you where the problem is.

So.......if it starts what would that indicate? That there is something wrong between the coil and the start switch? I have a similar problem and not sure whether I have the right wires on the right posts on the coil. :-)

You are going to have to provide more information. 6v or 12v, pos or neg ground? Original wiring or rewired?

tHERE ARE TWO LEAD WIRES INSIDE THIS DISTRIBUTOR ONE IS ATTACHED TO A POINT MOUNTING SCREW AS A GROUND. THE OTHER ONE IS THE ACTUAL POINT LEAD WIRE.
I GET THEM ALL THE TIME WHERE SOMEONE HAS PLACED THE GROUND LEAD ON THE POINT HOT POST=NO SPARK.
JUST ANOTHER IDEA THROWN IN THE DISCUSSION.....

It could between the coil and the stater switch, between the stater switch and the battery terminal, or it could be the switch itself.
