The feat was, - installation of engine into '41 coupe with the transmission and starter attached, with headers still hooked up in the car. So I was able to avoid the two things I hate the most about working on old Fords: -installing the starter, and anything to do with exhaust pipes. The trick to threading that needle was having the adjustable leveler on my Strongway hydraulic lift. (Under $150 on sale at Pep Boys, plus $30 for the leveler)
The engine was rebuilt to 286 cubic inches with SCAT stroker kit and Schneider 248f cam by Jimmy's Engine Service in Lanexa VA, a wide place in Route 60 near Williamsburg. John Mullen is the long time flathead mechanic who works part time in that shop. He is a perfectionist who knows all the tricks. It ran very sweet on the test stand. I will report on the road test in a few weeks.
