Hey Guys,

In my last few hotords both FH & SBC I have used only premium/no corn fuel. It meant a 50 mile round trip to the station or hauling it home in cans. I seem to notice that it'll evaporate out of the carb when the engines hot? Living in a corn state and owning corn ground I'll burn it in my late models but not in my hotrods if I can avoid it.

You are missing the point --- they want the gas to contain more corn to do a minimum of two things....
1) raise the food prices since corn is a part of most food processing (and then be able to tax you on that food)
2) drive up the gas tax so they can create job by doing all that road repair that never ceases. (gee, do you think that by doing the job right the first time would help? and it will never be as cheap as it is now)

Remember -- those law passers have their daily per-diems -- so they never have to worry -- we are buying it for them to use.

The major use (90%) for propane is fertilizer. Every time you convert one form of energy to another you only get 20% return. If you put .75 pound of coal in a power plant you only get 20% out as kilowatts.
It would be a lot greener to burn the propane in the cars instead of using it for fertilizer the corn. I doubt if you get 1% return on this energy conversion. We are paying about $22.00 a gal. for ethanol. The rise in food prices and the hidden costs of government subsidies and the lower miles per gal. make this real expensive. You also have to multiply by two because it takes a gal to make a gal.

If you want to get elected in Iowa or South Dakota say you support ethanol.

The trouble is with who is appointed to different positions. If you support a canadate you get a high paying position even though you know nothing.

Fix your car so it runs on whatever is sold at the gas stations. That's what I did to mine. Get a flex hose from Bob Shewman gadgiteer@aol.com He is also working on a fuel pump diaphram, I have one in my 39 testing it for him and put over 2,000 miles on it and it's working great. He's not quite read to sell them yet. G.M.

I heard this and I have also been having the problem with the gas boiling out when shuting off a warm engine. I ran a few tanks without any ethanol in the gas. It made no difference. My unscientific conclusion is that it isn't as much the 10% ethanol as it is the quality of the 90% gasoline.

Don't get too excided yet. EPA is allowing 15% corn, BUT only for 2007 and up cars.
Most of our cars are older than 2007, so you are OK. As for the 10% stuff it works fine in my cars.

You should see how much water it takes to operate one of thoes ethonol plants. Here in North Dakota there is a lot of concern about these plants using up valuable water sources to produce this stuff. And yes, if the damn government wasn't subsidizing it, nobody would use it--less mileage etc.

I work in a refinery here inTexas. The gasoline is Rat Piss now .We have to blend it down with napatha and propane and butane. Then run it through a Gasoline hydro treater. This removes the sulfer.Millions of $$$ to build new units to produce the rat piss to government regulations. Not even talking of the EPA. Emissions from Boiler stacks and heater stacks. If we get out of complince we receve big fines. NOW YOU can see the price go up at the pump. When will all this crap stop the educated stinkers have to keep comming up with new crap to Justify there Jobs. Lyle

I would like the government to get out of the french fry business too. You can not get good french fires unless they are made at home. Mac's use to be really good.

Now they have a new convection fryer. This is a drum about 12"s long and 8"s in diameter with small perferated holes and a shaft on the rear of the drum. It hangs in the small machine and rotates with the open front of the drum in the front behind the convection oven door and hot air blowing through the small holes with the fries tumbling in the drum. I had some Friday and they were pretty good. I have to check and see how they look before they are cooked. I suspect they are french fried and frozen. G.M.

There may be hope in sight, in a "good news, bad news" kind of way. Our trading partner (think of our partnership like we're Ned Beatty in 'Deliverance'), China, is currently quietly buying up the majority of our potash production. Potash is essential to the production of fertilizer. This will send all of our food prices through the roof. Since corn now is not really economically feasible on a cost/benefit ratio, the price and scarcity of corn may put ethanol out of the fuel realm.

Small engine shops, outboard repairs, and mechanics everywhere will bemoan the loss of ethanol as this is a signficant portion of their income in this tattered economy.

Buy potash stocks and corn futures.

Did you see the list of stations that sell non-ethanol gasoline ? There are several in Florida. I posted a link, several days ago.

This government program is going to bite us just like Fannie May and Freddie Mack. Ethanol is the biggest rip off of the United States that has come along for a long time.

Corn is to eat and drink, not make fuel from. If you want corn for fuel ,burn it in a stove. Marv
