Enigine work

Deck Height is 1/32 over the deck! Yeah I know, It's crazy but that's what it is. For breaking loose. Try ATF and acetone, 50/50.Or MMO (Marvel's Mystery Oil). But unless I'm wrong, Your real problems are going to be with the valves. While you're messing with the pistons, Put some of your "Deruster" down the valves, I hate to give you the bad news, but when an engine sits for the length of time this one did, it rusts internally, Cam and lifter faces. Best to save yourself a lot of crawling underneath and pull it. It will go a lot faster. Clean all the scale rust of the parts. That scale rust will break off and go into your oil like so much sand and grit.

Sorry, I didn't read the dates until after posting the last message! Have you checked the block for cracks? I'm told the most common places for cracks are on the left (Driver's) just under the head, The rear, under the throttle linkage, In the valve chamber, and of course, from the valve seat to the cylinder wall. For a rebuilder, I suggest Steve Becker, at Bert's in Denver.

Ditto on Bert's- Nice machine work at a good price. Great Engine, great people too.
Lots of brew pubs in Denver...

If you want someone local, take it to Vegas Machine. They've probably done 10-15 Model A engines over the last couple years. I had them machine mine for inserts, replace the valve seats, and also align bore the cam journals. So far so good. I've probably put 2000 miles on it this year so far.

Ok, back on it and found some bad things. That piston that was stuck has got a big crack on skirt. Well the plan was to just get this motor running enough to get the car moved around. While I went through all the mechanicals. Where do any of you send your motor out? Who do you trust? I'd like a touring motor done. Modern bearings and updated valves. I was hoping at least to get the motor running to see if it had a cracked water jacket or cylinder. Any help here should would help.
