I can attest to the fact that the market for early Birds (55-57) is quite soft. I have a very nice '57 which I have owned since '73, I bought it for my wife as a Christmas present in Nov. 73.
After my wife passed away I decided to sell the car.. My wife loved the car so I always kept it in top condition for her to drive.. To my knowledge it has always been a California car.. I completely rebuilt the car in '82 because the engine developed a knock.
I have had the car listed for $34,k for almost a year, have not had a serious offer on the car yet. Women love the car, their husband' are always cool to the whole idea, just soothing their wives desires, wanting then to have a Camero or a Mustang..
Big complaint against the Birds, no leg room for a man and not fast enough..
Most people are not aware of the fact that the '55-57 Birds are not performance cars, they were intended by Ford to be personal luxury cars..
