Dual-point distributors

These threads certainly can get off the subject pretty quickly can't they?? I think the original question had to do with the basics of dual points, didn't it?? That said, I'm of the opinion that any increase in performance at low engine speeds would have more to do with timing or any change to the ignition secondary than dwell or coil saturation..

Again, check the Ron Kelly dyno test results.

Well, I think that whatever an individual does or spends on their car, wether it is just a later set of points or a $500.00 distributor if that person feels that he made a good move and thinks he improved the performance of his car that is the most important thing! We are, for the most part, tinkerer's, tinkering with old engines. We find in this thread posts about a modified early Ford engine that is capable of running at 6200 RPMs. We find posts that state that others have installed these distributors under discussion and state that they felt a difference that by others opinions and or theories they shouldn't be able to feel, The fact is that they DID it and that is their experience and I, for one, take them at their word. And I cheer them on! Just throw your head back and drive!
I mean, in theory, a Bumble Bee cannot fly!

Logan asked what might the bonus be. I gave referance to my experience with them and the Kelley dyno results. Anybody can think what they please.

So what would everyone pay for one? I know where i can get one for about 150-200 bux. its brand knew. is it worth that?

The last one that I bought from Berts in the mid ninties was $200.00 . If you want a trouble free distributor with centrifugal advance, it may be worth the price. I bought my first one from Harrys in Oregon and Harry told me that they had run them over 30.000 miles with no problems. the only thing that I have had to do to either of mine was replace the condenser and that is no big deal. The modern Mallory dual point distributors use the same condenser that is sold with the so called modern points that most vendors sell.
