Hello Gents
Can someone tell me if there is a difference in parts dealers.
I'm on the west coast so I have been buying from Drake, but latey I have not been happy with them.
Considering going to Mac or Carpenter, Any thoughts?
Thanks

C&G Early Ford Parts, H&H Flatheads, Sacramento Vintage Ford, Reds Headers, ...

C&G is my favorite. They have a wide selection including reselling Drake, Carpenter, and Vintique and are two day delivery to me in Utah.

I got tired of Drake and Macs. Have been using C and G and they are great. You are notified right away of your order and notified when order goes out so you can track it.

Another vote for C&G, and they have to ship my parts to Australia or New Zealand. Always good service.

I have ordered a few things from Dennis Carpenter in the past. A couple from Bob Drake. I have had good customer experience from Carpenter. They come to the Syracuse Nationals and the Hershey AACA show and I try and anticipate something I need, and save on the shipping at the show.
I have not bought much from Macs, as I have heard bad things about them on here and from my father in law who restores cars for a living.
Which is too bad as they are in my state and only a couple hours away.
God luck with whomever you choose.
Jeff

I've never had an issue with C&G but prefer Carpenter. Carpenters is a family owned business. A NICE family. If they make a mistake, they make it right without any BS like Drake typically does.

I've enjoyed C&G (just ordered from them again today) and Carpenter. They're both great to work with. A recent inquiry to Carpenter re: whether a specific part is USA made got an almost-immediate response. The part is USA made - so was the purchase.

My first call for just about everything is to Dick Spadaro. If he doesn't have it he will tell me where to get it.

I took a tour of Macs last year and in their "incoming" area, there were a couple of pallets of boxes from Drakes.

I am in So. Cal. so using C&G, next day delivery is possible.
Very nice people to deal with.

Bruce

Works good
Lasts long time

I deal with Carpenters and always visit them when in Charlotte in April. Last year I purchased some repop outside mirrors that were beautiful, but the heads vibrated while driving. I hesitated, expecting a run-around, but eventually phoned to complain and was somewhat surprised that the parts rep. offered a full refund. This was a visa credit and I recieved a credit statement in the mail 5 days later. The rubber parts (roof rail weatherstrip) that I purchased at the same time were not cheap, but they fit absolutely perfect. I don't mind paying for quality parts, especially when they are backed up by excellent customer service. Cheers : Bruce

I get all of my "A" parts from Bratton's. Great customer service and they ship quick. They've never messed up an order for me unlike Mac's and I make A LOT of parts orders. Their site is a little hard to navigate at first and you have to call or fax your credit card # in as they don't take it over the internet. But after that it's a dream to order. I also go to the Early Ford Store in San Dimas if I'm in a pinch.

Problem with Drake is that know one there ever built a car from the ground up!! They just like to sell parts !! Tech support is almost non-existant---Dont even try to get Bob on the line (like calling on God) Good luck Buy from E-Bay and use Pay-Pal VaVoom

I've used Drake, C&G and Macs and had good luck and service from all (except for the 36 gas tank sending unit, which seems o be the same for all vendors.)
About a week ago I ordered 5 items from Macs and they all arrived in 5 days. Likewise for DelCity battery cables etc.

Thanks Guys
Guess I'm not the only one Not happy with Drake's so called customer service.
I'll try Spadara or C&G, did not know C&G is on the west coast.
Carpenter still sounds like a good option too
Thanks for all the input again!

I live in probably the most isolated city in the world and usually order from Macs, mainly because is very easy to order online, Postage is a killer from them HOWEVER! I placed my last order from them on a Friday night it arrived in Western Australia Tuesday lunchtime at my door, damn thats good.
I must give Dick a try. He online?
