We have a 1947 Mercury, with dual 97 strombergs on
a Fenton intake. Flathead V8 59AB motor. Headders and duals.
I have been having a heck of a time getting the car to run
right. Seemed to be running lean. I tweeked the adjustment
screws, but could still not get the car to run correctly.
I balanced the carbs with an UNISYS guage first.($25.00)
I have had a Color Tuner kit for about 2 months, but the instructions
were vague to me and there not any pictures on the instructions.
So I finally opened up the box and re-read the info and installed 2 of the 6-7 parts in the box.
All you have to do is to remove a spark plug and replace it with the sparkplug looking device and connect it's lead wire to your spark plug wire. Fire up car ,garage door half open with fan to blow exhaust out,
and light all off. Watch the spark and the color inside that cylinder.
If it is real white, you are running too lean; yellowish, too rich.
You are aiming for a nice blueish color. With 2 carbs, each carb feeds 4 cylinders, so, you need to repeat in a plug in the opposite side of (4)
plugs.
It took me about five mintes per side.
The car runs like it was new. Lots of power, NO backfiring, no stalling,
nice idle.
GREAT PRODUCT!!!!!!!!
This is my wife's car, and she was floored on how well it now runs.
My wife said "How long did you have this Color Tune thing?" duh!
