On an 8BA with the 9 1/2" clutch is there a 9 1/2" clutch disc with large spline ? Want to use on my 37 transmission with a truck bellhousing. Will the 9 1/2" long type pressure plate work, looks like fingers are on a slightly smaller radius for the throw out bearing it also had a smaller spline disc. Will the 10" pressure plate bolt to the 8BA flywheel that had a 9 1/2" p/p ?

It originally came with an early flywheel, 9" long clutch & pressure plate and with starter plate cut out, it also had a spacer between the crankshaft and flywheel.

Thanks for any help, Zeke

The 9.5" clutch pressure plate (as Ford used from 1949 and up) definitely has a closer spacing of the 3 fingers. It will NOT work with the early Ford V8 type transmission input shaft and clutch release bearing. It will fit together but when you are running the engine and depress the clutch, the throw-out bearing hub will scrape the pressure plate and make a lot of racket (not to mention the metal grindings that will be tossed about).

Either find a 49-53 flywheel that has the 10" pressure plate bolt pattern (F1 trucks and special duty cars) or have your 8BA flywheel redrilled for the 10" Long style pressure plate bolt pattern. Then you can use the stock Ford 10" pressure plate and the stock 10" clutch disc with the mating big spline hub (1-3/8" dia x 10 spline).

Will the 9" pressure plate work, can I have the flywheel drilled for the 9" long type pressure plate & clutch disc since I already have them. Thanks Zeke

The 9 or 10 inch will work. If it is for a truck or a pickup that you are going to carry heavy loads with, you might consider a 10 inch. If it is a light body vehicle a 9 inch would be fine.
