Chrome Replater

Spend the $ to ship to The Chrome Shop in Wisconsin. Steve has been doing my chrome plating for decades. NEVER an excuse... the stuff comes back on time, every time and is beautiful. What he promises, he delivers. prices are within reason. I do only top point cars and am very fussy as such.
You will not deal with a more ethical CRAFTSMAN in this trade.
920-727-9444 is Steve's number at his business.

The owner of Paul's retired and turned the business over to his sons. The prices went up, up, up. I have been pleased with the plating done for me by QualKrom in Erie.

I used Qual chrome and was happy, then I found a flaw. When I called several times and emailed pictures - He did not want to hear anything.
I don't know what you expect to pay for bumpers to be rechromed, But Drake has new ones that look anf fit great much cheaper than any good rechroming would cost. There are the bumper Boys in Ca and Hanlon plating in Va.

I have 2 NOS bumpers that I did not use and do not want to sell, but I used the Drake bumpers. I did not use them because the cost of rechroming, even nos with zero rust, was much to high.

I have heard of them. There used to be a QualKrome in Fort Pierce, FL. Is that the same company? Thanks, JIM

WARNING! Do a search on Bumper Boys and you will see why sending them anything to chrome is not recommended. The stuff they have on display looks great, but looks are deceiving-not to mention you don't get back the same bumper you send them.

The 32 reproduction bumpers I have seen are much lighter than the originals. Are they all like that or does someone make thicker ones. What is the range you would expect to have a set of bumpers done?

Well, thank you all for this great info including the info on Paul's. What I have is an 18 pound 1934 Ford grille that is laser straight. It is original and I have had it for many, many years always indoors. When I picked it up, it was in the same condition that it is in now which is void of most of the chrome. It is smooth and has never been cut, bent, reworked, etc.
I was told that the chrome shops will cut the bars in the grille which really scares me. This is a very nice piece and not for cutting. No replacing needed or straightening either.
I just want the very best work for a resonable price. The grille on the car can be cut if one needs to be cut. It is a lot lighter material and I am sure a repop.
Thank you.

Wonder why a chrome shop would "cut" the grille. Doesn't make sense to me.

Any good chrome shops in the Northwest? Something a little closer to Alaska. I have some smaller pieces I'd like done.

Pauls plated trunk hinges without removing the poorly inserted pins that were in them. He insisted that he always replaces pins, but not mine. Open the hinges and there is no shine on the exposed surfaces. My last time with him.

Ralph, check Oregon Plateing, in Portland. They do a great job. Do a lot of collector/restorer/street rod stuff, and have been for years. If I can round up their number I will post it here.
