Buyer's Remorse ?

Most model A fords are happiest at about 45mph. If you find the need to consistently travel at speeds over that, you might be happier with a newer car. One with more precise steering, hydraulic brakes, and an engine made for those speeds. Something like a 40 ford comes to mind.

Bob--
I also have a 30 Town Sedan, and you are right, a HC head works wonders on it. Those sedans are about 300 lb heavier than a roadster, so the extra power is really useful, and you do not need to "push it" to run right along.
The Mitchell OD paired with that makes for a great cruiser, and 55 mph is a very sweet speed with mine...it is not straining at all and very quiet. Good luck with that down the road!
Terry, Not only is the T/S heavier but I have become very aware on the hills of the difference passenger load makes (although I have never mentioned this problem to any of my passengers--especially female ones).

Group,

Another update. My car came with a Tillitson XF carb. When I replaced it with a Zenith, much of the engine problems went away.

Today, I checked the Tillitson and found that upper/lower parts have a gap in the middle that the gasket can not seal. Most likely from the Pot Metal warping with time/heat.

When I take the carb apart to rebuild it, I'll file the parts to make them fit.

Looks like the poor seal allowed air in and made hurt the operation of the carb.

Another thing that I have learned !

Marc
