Broken Clutch Spring Update

I removed the engine and transmission. The clutch spring wasn't broken but it was badly bent. The clutch spring support failed! I Found pieces of it throughout the transmission and engine. Found the pin in the oil sump. Not sure why it failed. The person I bought the car from said it just quit running.

I have installed new spring, spring support and pin. All purchased from Snyder's. I find that my stack is at 2 inches with the clutch fingers just touching the plate. It looked, from reading all the past threads, that I would have needed to adjust the fingers to get the 2 inch height. Any thoughts?

Clutch fingers adjusted so there is a distance of 13/16th of an inch from the lower side of the clutch shift to the lower edge of the Drive Plate Shaft flange. Make sure each finger screw is turned the same amount so the adjustment is even all the way around and lock them with cotters thru the slot.

Lock all the cotters going the same way, that is: when you look at them as though they were in the car, they all go in from the left OR all from the right. Reason for this is when you need to adjust them in the car you can switch directions. This will tell you that you have done all 3 and not done one twice (and another not at all)! It is very easy when adjusting them in the car to get mixed up because the engine can go further than the 1/3 revolution you wanted to hand crank it, the cylinder compression pushed the crankshaft .
