I would like a source where I can get the four 3/4" block plugs for my '36LB engine. I have heard them called freeze/soft plugs also. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Mike

I would think you could get them at any parts house

I think they are Welch plugs but like you say most call them freeze plugs

there are two types of freeze plugs, the round concave type, those go in the hole with the concave facing out, and rest against a lip inside the hole, they are then hit in the middle and spread out and wedge in the hole, these are the freeze plug type, the other types are called welch plugs they are also round and have a lip on them which is a little bigger than the hole, when driven in the lip collapse, become the same size of the hole thus wedging them selfs in, there is no lip in the hole as on the round freeze plug type type

IF the holes are corroded they can be tapped with a pipe tap and an allen plug installed. Sometimes the holes are too big for the original type plugs to seal due to rust/corrosion.

Thanks guys for all the advice. Now I know where to get them. My block holes have a good lip. I was surprised of the depth of all the crud after I removed the old ones. Mike
