Big bore graphite head gasket questions

Upon removing old graphite head gasket and comparing to new graphite gasket I see that the old gasket has shrunk in diameter around piston area; is this a result to torquing aluminum heads to 60lbs.? Also, one of the water passage ways in head gasket is much smaller than the passage way in the block; is this as it should be or should I enlarge opening in gasket?

When the gasket is crushed in place, the inner edge is folded sharper and this makes the fire ring smaller in diameter- toward the cylinder...
The holes in the gasket are a size to optimize coolant flow, do not enlarge them... And be sure that the front of the head gasket goes to the front of the engine... Smaller holes in front, larger in rear...
