Gentlemen- did ford ever make a negative ground 6 volt car? Inquiring Minds want to know.
Ford was 6 volt negative ground thru 55. in 56 they went to 12 volt positive ground. Mike
Just today I was looking closely at my newly acquired 54 as was surprised to see it is 6 volt negative ground. There is no radio. Interesting that it seems to work fine!

Those batteries are for golf carts and will give a bit extra on a 6 volt system. Most 6 volt systems charge at about 7.5 volts so the higher voltage battery is not an issue. While looking at Barrett jackson auction cars (#685) I saw a nice 54 with a 4 cell battery! That would be 8 volts? I did not know such batteries existed. I suppose it is a way to get a bit more starting power with out completely changing to 12 volts. Kind of strange however.
