Autolab Distributor Check

Has anyone used one of these? It has two gauges, one for RPM (0-6,000)/Distributor (0-30) and the other for vacuum. I think it was made by Durst Electric in Sydney.

Whatever you do DONT power it up until you have the old electrolytic caps changed...
Nice old tube tech...even emp safe :)

I would just clean it up a bit and check it out. I am assuming it isnt being used now and may never work again. Plug er in a see if it will motor.
The ignition board is just a coil ( simular to the auto coil) and oftens fire a small neon in the dial to check firing sequence.
Becarefull with the tubes and capacitors they can hurt ya......

300v b+ for the tubes and old electrolytic caps thats an accident waiting to happen !!!!
Caps that has been out of use for long time should be either slowly aplied the voltage by using a variac or replaced.

Slamming them with full voltage isnt a great idee...

They may explode sending their guts around the room...

Yes, that is the mains cable. The insulation has disintegrated where it is soldered to the switch. I plan to rewire it and replace all the capacitors.

It needs an external vacuum source to operate. Is this the way the Sun machines work or do they he a built in vacuum pump?
