Another Bad Product??

Thanks to all for your comments. After reading and rereading them all I now realize the problem is between my ears and has nothing to do with the rubber or the car. I was simply trying to put the seal in backwards. My 40 coupe has the large side out, maybe thats wrong too but thats what lead me to believe it should be the same on the 47. Thanks again for all the comments.

Just goes to show - if unsure - ask! Lots of people willing to share their knowledge and help a fellow enthusiast. No-one can be an expert on everything, when working on these old cars there's always some area you might be attempting for the first time, or maybe the last time was years ago.

Mart.

Congratulations! Feels good doesn't it. I am a firm believer in the addage "anything worth doing is worth doing at least three times"

okiedokie,

How come you're able to do things with only three tries?!?!

I'd say you're MUCH faster than most!

Al :D

Thanks, sounds like now I have a rubber problem. Who do you think has the best reproduction rubber products. I got this one from Macs and I hate to call it non-conforming but after two tries and from what I'm reading here it looks like either modify the glass or throw the rubber on the shelf.

I got mine from Mac's too, this may sound funny but I started at the bottom and did it alone. I stuck some heavy books agains the bottom to wedge it in, and worked form the top down. A real bear but I got in in. Now about that windshield... that was an experience.

Not meaning to steal Kelly's thread, but we did get the rear window glass in yesterday. And yes, we were trying to put the rubber in backwards. Smaller lip goes toward the outside and the larger lip to the inside to hide the tack strip for the headliner.

Working on this project with Kelly turned out to be good therapy for me, both physically and mentally.

Thanks to all of you for your input. It just shows to go you that persistance, and some outside help from barners, pays off big dividends.

Not trying to be a smart a## but do you have the gasket facing in the right direction? The thinner edge faces the outside of the opening.

I don't think you're trying to be a SA at all. In fact, you and some others were right on. The problem was between my ears. I did have the rubber backwards. After I turned it around it fell right in with Lawsons help. Thanks again to all who helped. Kelly
