Alu 24 stud heads

This NOS heads 24 stud aluminium heads with Nr ; 9T6050 ( Ford made )

As seller said it can be pick-up factory made 39 or into the 40's ( as the 8 AB came 49 )

Or is it Canada made heads and made in the 50's ?

I has a Merc 1942 block that I has a early Weiand dual carb intake and a Kurten LZ distributor and a baby stroked 3.75 crank, so I like the era to be correct before 1950's but after the war.

I was think on use std steel Ford heads.

One odd case one on this ones is thst one has a bigger chamber (?)

Price is decent and it comes with a studkit and heads is never used.

Ideas on this ?

These are not Canadian, nope, they are not. I am skeptical as to whether or not they are even Ford (OEM).
99T are truck heads. 9T?
There are a couple other small details that make me lean towards after-market. Often times, to work around patents, companies would make minor changes to design, like dropping one of the 9's from the prefix.

I can't quite tell, but neither head appears to have a threaded boss for the temperature gauge. Another "sign" of after-market.

Also, the fact that both left and right part numbers (abbreviated part numbers) are cast on each head makes me believe these were produced after WWII.

Me? I'd stay away from these.

Ok I has a feeling it was later castings but seller said it was truck 39 and +, however if it is a good example of a non Ford castings ( later ) but would one dare cast in Ford / before ?

Even later service replacement parts had FORD cast upon them. I truly believe these to be after-market.

Seller is incorrect. The T heads for 39 / 40 BIG trucks and Mercury had a T cast on the cylinder head as well as the complete part number.
Also, the heads for those years were specific to the right OR left side. Not both.

It’s sound to me odd if a out from Ford made heads to aftermarket ( 50’s ) with Ford logo.
Would be Very intresting to see a true truck 38/39 with this engine/heads on so I can se the numbers and how Ford had the numbers made incasted.
Pictures ?

Found these for locally on FB.

Hank, you can’t have a 59 block made in 1942. The “5” in 59 means it was designed in 1945.

If you are trying to be strict with your timeline, it helps to use the correct terminology and nomenclature.

I has a insight that this heads can be Ford made and in early 40's but from Germany or France.
Ideas on that ?

If so it don't work for me.

If USA made and NOS and even if chambers is not the same I'm Ok, but not European made, it don't 'feel' right.

The French 24 stud alu heads would be from the early 1950's and up used in the Cargo military trucks and Vendome pass cars.My friend there has a set on his "French cargo" engine in his 1928 roadster.

Hank, is the Ford script on the heads you are asking about? I didn't see it.

Kube,
On the heads I showed it is a 'Ford' ( script in cast ) if that is what you ask about.

Again, would be Very intresting to see a USA made truck 38/39 with alu heads, a std truck/ std engine in.
I has search but I can't find anything.

Sheldon.
Did that early 50's French alu 24 stud head look like this and same numbers on it ?
I asked my buddy to take pics of his heads.I will post them . BTW The French Cargo Trucks did not have aluminum heads only the Vendome and the French Comet did. They also came with a full syncro 4 speed aluminum case transmission. There is a 32 roadster project on the HAMB using that exact transmission.

Here is a link to the ****** I mentioned.

I was unable to see that script. Then they are most likely Ford.
Now, to be clear, Ford only installed cast iron heads on the trucks and Merc. engines in '39 / '40.
There were aluminum high-compression heads made in both cast and aluminum. They are EXTREMELY rare.
The heads that were installed on truck (not pickup trucks) had a large T cast on the face. These were also installed on all Mercury's in '39 / '40. Very early production had that T between the front spark plug and the next plug rearward. Somewhere around December 1939 the T was moved to the center of each head. The heads in '39 / '40 were specific to side.
What I find questionable is the fact that the part number is lacking a numeral within the prefix. It's difficult to believe Ford would have forgotten that.
By 1946, cylinder heads were interchangeable right / left.
The fact that both 6049 and 6050 is cast on those heads in question makes me believe they were produced after WWII.
