adhesive remover for weather strip

Next thing you know California will outlaw elbow grease because it causes body odor.:D:mad:

I use the 3M product but I have had it for a while so it's the old formula and in PA it's still Ok to use and use very little of it (which is why I still have it). With all due respect, and not wanting to take this thread to a political discussion, I think that California is to be admired, not denigrated.

Sure a lot of the old products worked really well- can remember carbon tet for stain removal and MEK as a great solvent, but then, when I look at my grandchildren, I'd put up with an awful lot of convenience to give them a safe environment to grow up in.

Try living here, they took the good stuff out of everything. The paint is no good, the gas
is no good, the solvents are no good, the paint strippers are no good I won't keep going
on but you get the idea. Some change was needed but in California they always do a
180 on everything and end up killing flies with sledge hammers.......

I just retired from the Arizona DOT as a mechanic. We were getting all kinds of grief from the ninnies down in Phoenix Purchasing. They insisted on MSD's, approved by them, before we could buy any chemicals, and of course they were clueless. Finally someone figured out a workaround: Whatever products are sold to the general public in grocery stores, hardware stores, lumberyards, etc. are not required to have MSD's. And you can find some pretty good stuff at these places, at least in AZ. The local Homeco has MEK and other good solvents. I just bought some lacquer thinner there which is the good stuff! So find a buddy with a bike with big saddle bags (or small car) and give him some gas money for a day trip to Yuma, Kingman. etc. Oops, on second thought, maybe you better provide him with an armored truck for safety!
