Anybody know where I can get a black dizzy cap for 8ba Mallory duel point?

I bought a black 'distributor cap' for a Mallory from NAPA.
Believe it was part number ( ECH MA 2 ) about $25.
Replacement for 209 series 'red' cap.

This doesn't make any sense to me?
When is the last time in several decades that Mallory made a contemporary design Ford flathead distributor that came with a black distributor cap?

The cap he needs was used on all flat top Mallory dizzies. They are out there at every swap meet.

Nowhere was it stated that it was an old flat top distributor.

Thanks, Charlie. Maybe I was assuming it was a flat top, but that is what we all assumed he was talking about. To be clear, the "flat top" cap is a two piece deal with a water sealing gasket sandwiched in between the top and bottom pieces.

If not, then he's in luck for any Napa should be able to help with for around $20.

Edit: Look at post #8. 51 Merc CT even has the part number for the "modern" style replacement cap.

He needs a Mallory 4001 cap. Napa has a replacement cap in conventional style
Echin MA-5. $25. Matching rotor MA-7.
Cheers
Tony

Seems as though the OP could put an end to this quandary by posting exactly what he needs and what for, but for some reason chooses not to.
