6 volt fuel pump

JSeery, checked at my local walmart today they do not carry any fuel pumps and very little automotive stuff. just oil, filters, a few spark plugs and a bunch of trailer hitches and a bunch of accessory junk. cannot even order it here in Alaska, something about state or federal laws on shipping. what a bunch of crap. they do show it on their web site though. I think I will have my grand daughter in Seattle buy one and send it to me in a small USPS priority mailbox. the cheapest and easiest way out at this point.---Jim

If you mean the pumps that "clicked" until the reached pressure and then shut off and only ran when the pressure dropped, I have been wondering that myself. that is the way that my old pump worked. seems that they are obsolete. I used to turn the key on wait for the pump to stop clicking then fire up the eng. always started on the first revolution. I wish I could find one I have an AirTex E8011 that is 4- 8 psi. (6volt) but the pressure ids to high. can be corrected with a regulator, but it still runs when it reaches full pressure, at least it does when dead headed against my fuel pressure gauge. I may end up with the AirTex E-8902, as it is low pressure. sure wish I could find one of the old one's, because I always left the pump on. I did not use it just for starting or when vapor locked. it also always let the mechanical pump pull through. I am not liking the fact that they run all the time, would be ok if there was a return line, but I am not going to re plumb the whole car including the tank.----Jim

I do not mthink a gear pump will not be a flow through pump. A friend triedthe Carter and that was I was led to understand. jm2cw .kerk

JSeery, Yes it sometimes seems like it. funny thing though, when I am at my place in Texas, I complain about how far I have to go to get things there, that are easy to get here. I guess it is because different things are in different demand from one place to the next 19Fordy, that one is for 24 volt. if I could find a good one that is 6 volt I would take a chance. we do not have ethanol in our fuel up here. I know the modern fuel is hard on things, but I have been using the pump I have since 1995. the only thing wrong is the gaskets are leaking. the pump still pumps plenty of fuel and good press. I only knew it was leaking after I took it out for a drive for the first time in 11 months. I think the gaskets just dried out from no use. I think I am going to tru and make new gaskets for it.----Jim
