55 F100 Carb

My 55 F-100 has the 223 6 cyl with a 1 barrel carb that has a clear plastic cover on the front where you can see the fuel. The truck has been runing great until this evening. Fired it up and after 3-4 minutes, it died. After several attempts to restart, it fired-up and did the same thing again. Previous to this, all I did was change out the temp sending unit now this! What's going on here? As I was watching the carb on the second run, the gas completely filled the plastic bowl; is that normal or should the bowl be only halg full? I'm not familiar with these type of Holleys. I checked the plugs and they were fouled so a new set will be installed tomorrow. Any clues to what could be causing this? Usually I always think about the last job done prior but do not see any correlation with a temp sending unit and the truck not maintaining idle. Thanks.

That bowl should be about 1/2 full. Seems like something stuck in needle & seat, of the float filled with gas and sunk.

Steve that bowl is not plastic but real breakable glass,be very careful if you try to take it off for any reason. Also hard to find part. ken ct.

Thanks Merlin. When I got home from work, I gently tapped the bowl a few times and must have dislodged whatever may have been in the needle & seat. It's running great (for now).

Parklane is right, fouled plugs indicate a flooded condition, bad needle and seat. something stuck in it, or a hole in the float, looks like your going to have to remove top of carb and find the problem, it wont go away by its self
